Cellular phones have created a new way to communicate, regardless of the distances and the country where the receptive cellular phone is. This “new” and buoyant form of communication is text messaging. Through text messages, people can communicate all their thoughts, fears, ideas, feelings and even news as they experience them in the moment they are, wherever they might be physically at that moment.

Indeed it is a wonderful way to communicate and it is simple enough to handle; all you will need to do is to put a “+” (plus) sign before the 10 digits that are required: Area code and phone number. That is all that it takes; however, if for whatever reason you fail or miss to add the “+” the message will not end in the cellular phone that you are sending the message to but rather in the cellular phone of a stranger.

Therefore, it is recommendable that you send first a “test message” to a friend’s cellular phone overseas before sending more personal messages, ask him or her to answer and store the ID number as it shows on your screen, most cellular phones have an option to store as many numbers for a specific contact as you might need.

Conference calling is a very important business tool for any company large and small alike. However, there are common mistakes that people in the conference call world make on a regular basis that can create unnecessary stress for all of the parties involved in the call.

One of the best features of phone conference service is the ability to dial into a call without having to be sitting behind your desk at the office or in a crowded boardroom. The problem that arises, however, is background noise. Background noise can disrupt the entire conference call. Use the Mute button on your phone, especially if you are not the leader of the conference call, when you are not verbally participating in the call.

Some phones include a Hold music feature. This can be disturbing to all participants in the call should you have to put the conference call line on Hold.

Ideally during a conference call, all participants should be using headsets plugged into landlines, however this is somewhat impossible. If you use a cell phone, cordless phone or wireless headset, be sure there is not any disruptive static on your line.

Use a speakerphone only when you have to and never use call waiting during phone conferencing.
